 AFA Cup History
Asian Football Association cup was first introduced in season 6th of Hattrick by Yiuwai the AFA-Founder. During the time, the cup was designed to be a tournament playing internally between AFA members. There were only 12 participants playing in two groups. The first two teams of the leading table from each group get into the semi-final round then the final. The winner of that our first internal federation cup was not even awarded with anything, the team name was not even been recorded nor the trophy presenting. Although, the tournament was a very small event, however, one believes, it was the starting point of the today one of the most elite cup of Asia in Hattrick world. The tournament continued the season after but failed to maintain its excitement. There were too many problems occurred with the organization of the cup, the federation was too small with only around 20 members within AFA, and most of them paid interest to other tournaments that held by other federations.
The season after (8th season) Yiuwai promoted Flying_angels01 as the first ever AFA-cup organizer to up the standard of the cup. The old internal cup was names ÒAFA cupÓ for the first time to set up a unique branding in order to create value to the tournament. The first AFA cup attracted 32 participants from both members and non-members of AFA. It was proved to be a very successful tournament, although, there were some confusion with the new cup rules and walkover games. The first official AFA cup trophy was handed to the winner, also the AFA cup hall of fame was introduced in AFA website that time, unfortunately, there was no other prize than the trophy given. Since then AFA cup has become part of AFA tradition, playing every season with the standard of 32 teams.
AFA cup reputation spread out everywhere in Hattrick world, there were many players from both AFA members and non-members asking to join but because it was a limited space of 32 teams that the cup organizer decided to increase the size of participants up to 64 teams as third edition of AFA cup. Dividing them into 16 groups and only the group leader could get into the last 16. It was the biggest tournament run by a federation ever happened in Hattick that day. AFA cup attracted huge interest from many Hattrick players that as a result help growing a good reputation of AFA at the same time. Only because there were an unaccepted amount of walkover games in AFA cup, it was difficult to control once the participants were non-members, therefore the cup organizer decided to change the structure of AFA cup in the fifth edition of the tournament limiting the registered players to only AFA members and went back to 32 teams process. The result came satisfied with only 6 walkover games. The prize winner of 6 months HT-supporter was now awarded for the first time as well as the trophy presented. The following season AFA cup continue its 32 teams process and run smoothly with appreciation feed back.
With the tournament system seems to settle, there was a management structure changed inside AFA federation, flying_angels01 who gave birth to AFA cup stepped aside as AFA-Executive Board, the new AFA-President was in charged and the new AFA-cup Director was appointed. The AFA cup went back to its starting point to become as an invitation cup in the following season with 16 teams participated. Leaving huge confusion to those who often join the cup. Nevertheless, its excitement was still in every games of the AFA cup tournament. AFA management team knows this problem and will try everything to restore its reputation back in the future. AFA cup still always be the tradition event that shows strong character of Asian Football Association (AFA) that would reflex where their future will be in Hattrick world.
